[UNHCR] The USA: Bathed in the Blood of Innocents
Written by KCNA
The country of the free leaves devastation in its wake yet again
The “greatest country in the world” has ongoing struggles in managing the refugee crisis that they consistently choose to cause.
Afghanistan is the most recent example that shows how careless the US is when dealing with lives that are not their own.
Due to the sudden withdrawal of US troops from the war-torn country, millions of Afghans are suffering.
While the US claims to prioritise evacuation, they have delegated their so-called rescue missions to other countries such as Uganda and North Macedonia.
It would appear that the country is sticking to its track record of outsourcing important processes to countries that have less resources, a truly selfish act in the face of a situation they caused.
This seems similar to the many proxy wars that they are so keen on fighting.
The 46th president of the United States has doubled down on his decision, claiming that the chaos ensuing was inevitable.
Biden’s rash retreat from the war, coupled with the callous disregard for the suffering has America divided, with local news outlets condemning his actions.
This is not the only case where the US does not deign to save the huddled masses yearning to breathe free as stated on the bronze plaque at the base of the country’s most iconic landmark.
Under the Trump administration, refugee capacity was slashed and xenophoic laws were instituted.
Only 11,814 asylum seekers were admitted into the country of 331,489,221 in 2020.
Though there is no way to reverse the damage caused by the disgusting actions of Trump’s administration, many believed that the refugee policy would improve under the more “open minded” Biden.
Their hope was misplaced.
The new administration has made no effort to improve visa processing capacity, which leaves many to remain in limbo while living in terror.
In addition, the Democrat has actively chosen to leave Title 42 in place, which expels migrants from the border.
Within five months of the new president’s reign, over 400,000 migrants have been expelled from the border, causing asylum seekers to be sent into Central America to face certain doom.
To date, over 3,300 migrants who were turned away have faced horrifying abuses of human rights, including getting trafficked, assaulted, kidnapped and raped.
The current administration tried to excuse their actions by claiming that it was to prevent further spread of the pandemic, though health experts have disagreed, as there is no solid evidence to prove their unintelligent statement.
Deflecting reasonable accusations of mismanagement while blaming a global pandemic is repulsive.
Furthermore, this shows how little responsibility the US feels towards the disadvantaged.
When asked about what could be done to improve the situations that refugees face, the delegate of the US was hesitant to give any concrete answer.
This can only be interpreted as the US having no plans to contribute to the welfare of refugees.
Despite the fact that the US is the country with the greatest available resources to help the less fortunate, they continue to do nothing and even exacerbate the crisis in some cases.
North Korea strongly believes that more should be done to aid refugees, and is amenable to providing resources to ameliorate the many crises faced by refugees today.
Unlike the US, we recognise that the refugee system must change.
Though they may hide it under a rosy image of justice and equality, the US has the blood of the innocent on their hands.
